About Products
Q1: Why does the pH reading stay at 7.0 and never change?
A: This is the most common query. The tester is designed for soil only. If the soil is too dry, the probe cannot establish a complete electrical circuit, causing the reading to stay at 7.0. Please moisten the soil with water and wait for 30 minutes before testing again. Also, ensure the probe is not touching stones or hard objects that could block contact.
Q2: Can I use this device to test the pH of water or other liquids?
A: No. This device is specifically calibrated for soil testing. Submerging the metal probe in water or other liquids will not provide an accurate reading and may permanently damage the sensitive sensors.
Q3: Does the device require batteries, and what type?
A: Yes, the digital LCD and sensors require a power source. Depending on the specific model version, it typically uses either one 9V battery or 3-4 AAA batteries. Please note that batteries are usually not included in the standard export package.
Q4: How deep should I insert the probe for an accurate reading?
A: For the best results, the probe should be inserted vertically into the soil to about 3–5 inches (8–12 cm) deep. It is important to reach the root zone where the plant actually absorbs moisture and nutrients.
Q5: Why is the light intensity reading different from what I see?
A: The light sensor is located at the top of the device's housing, not on the probe. When testing light, ensure the top of the meter is facing the light source (sun or grow light) and is not shaded by your hand or plant leaves. The device measures current ambient light intensity across 9 levels (from LOW- to HGH+).
